Karachi: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Saturday inaugurated three major flyovers in the Sher Shah Suri Signal Free Corridor
Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan was originally scheduled to see to the proceedings; with the city’s bad weather conditions having served to impede his visit.
Talking to the media after the inauguration ceremony, the Governor said that the flyovers had been constructed for the convenience of the city’s residents and that the city’s development was among PM Khan’s major priorities. He added that the landscape of the city would forever be changed through various proposed projects worth PKR 162 billion that had been announced recently by the PM.
Governor Ismail further said that additional work on the areas surrounding the flyovers would be completed within the next six to eight weeks.
Reportedly, the signal-free corridor extends from Surjani Town to Lasbela and the project had originally been announced back in 2018, after recommendations by the Karachi Transformation Committee.
