Islamabad: The newly appointed chairperson of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Nausheen Javaid Amjad, took charge of her office and vowed to make all possible efforts for collecting taxes, a news source reported. Previously, the government had notified her appointment with effect from April 8.
Talking to reporters after assuming charge, the FBR chairperson vowed to steer FBR in the right direction and said that while coronavirus has affected the economic activities, FBR will make all possible efforts to collect outstanding tax payments.
She added that the taxation agency recently refunded nearly PKR 56 billion; adding that the authorities concerned did not receive a single complaint to this effect.
Nausheen Javaid Amjad entered the Pakistan Civil Service in 1985. Prior to her new appointment, she served as an FBR-Member Administration (BS-22 official); later functioning as the acting FBR chairperson since January – after the former FBR Chairman Shabbar Zaidi had taken an indefinite leave on account of ill health.
