Sindh govt would establish a model village in every district of the province in Financial Year 2020-21

A single model village would have no more than 1,000 residents

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday said that the government would establish a model village in every district of the province in Financial Year (FY) 2020-21, a news source reported. To this effect, the chief minister sought recommendations from the elected representatives and stated that a single model village would have no more than 1,000 residents.

CM Murad said that each model village would get basic amenities such as hospital, school, sanitation, water supply, roads, street lights, transport facility, and a community centre. He expressed his views on the matte during a meeting at the CM house; held to review the status of 401 development projects (worth PKR 28.97 billion). The said projects were inaugurated under the banner of the provincial Annual Development Programme (ADP) across five districts: Badin, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Sujawal, and Thatta.

The chief minister asked the elected representatives to assume ownership of the ongoing development projects in their areas and give input for the ADP 2020-21. The meeting was briefed that 75 schemes worth PKR 3.24 billion had been inaugurated in the Badin district through ADP.

Moreover, the provincial government launched PKR 6.76 billion worth 80 schemes in Mirpurkhas and 46 schemes worth PKR 1.16 billion in Sujawal. Similarly, it launched 78 schemes worth PKR 3.16 billion in Thatta district. These schemes included projects of the Auqaf department, school education department, college education department, culture department, water supply and sanitation department, livestock and fisheries department.
