Islamabad: The Ministry of Science and Technology has offered its support to facilitate the provision of internet and broadband services across the country, according to a news report. The Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Hussain Chaudhary communicated this offer to the Ministry of Information Technology during an online conference.
The talk was organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and its title was ‘Role of Ministry of Science and Technology amid Covid-19 ‘. During the session, Chaudhary emphasised that the current situation called for efficient e-governance.
He stated that his ministry could help assist the Covid-19 efforts by helping produce ventilators, testing kits, hand sanitisers, and personal protective equipment (PPE) in its own capacity. He also called for the private and public sectors to work together in these efforts.
Chaudhary also invited think tanks like SDPI to come forward and expand the scope of research and development for policy purposes in Pakistan, and to help tackle the current situation.
