Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday announced further ease in the country’s ongoing lockdown restrictions and appealed to the nation to observe the government’s recommended standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other precautionary measures to prevent further coronavirus spread.
Khan made these remarks while addressing the nation after presiding over the National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting. He warned people that the prevailing coronavirus infection will continue to spread until a vaccine is developed and we need to learn to live with it.
The premiere reiterated that the lockdown imposition has affected daily wagers and over 25 million families and any extension in it will bring these families to starvation. He acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the frontline healthcare workers and said that though he understands their concerns, but the lockdown can be fatal for over 50 million people of Pakistan – who live below the poverty line.
Additionally, he also said that all overseas Pakistanis are allowed to come home as NCC has approved ‘self-quarantine’ policy for coronavirus patients among them.
