Karachi: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar directed the Law Department to initiate legal proceedings to take back control of the 52 acres of land on which the Aladin Park has been established.
Akhtar instructed for effective measures to be taken for acquiring the park’s control – where ‘a party is in possession on the court’ stay order’. He further mentioned that not relieving the park’s control, after the expiry of the contract, is unlawful.
He directed the concerned officials to approach the relevant court in order to take the park’s control. The mayor plans to re-issue the tender as the previous 25-year agreement has already expired, according to the KMC’s press statement.
Reportedly, the party in possession of the park was given a six-month notice as per the rules. The notice mentioned that the then-ongoing agreement expires on May 29.
According to the KMC, the second notice has also been served to the said party. A committee was formed, after the issuance of this notice, which issued the third notice after completing the legal requirements.
