KMC removed illegal encroachments in Saddar near Rainbow Centre and Empress Market

Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Monday removed illegal encroachments in Saddar near Rainbow Centre and Empress Market.

It conducted another operation today to vacate 350 acres of land belonging to the KMC Officer’s Housing Society in District West and KMC amenity land on Mangopir Road.

KMC officials in collaboration with the traffic police and Sindh police removed illegal structures including food stalls and cabins on footpaths and roads.

KMC Anti-Encroachment Senior Director Bashir Siddiqui confirmed that the operation was conducted in all the streets near Empress Market. The encroachers returned to the streets within a few hours but KMC’s officials stayed vigilant and arrested three encroachers.

According to the KMC director, the Rangers and Sindh Police have already been informed about the operation, he said and added that the corporation will demolish about 100 illegal shops in Ranchor Line.
