KARACHI: Former Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) elected leadership is allegedly involved in the illegal sale and purchase of Orangi pilot project plots, worth billions of rupees, it has been revealed.
According to the details, the former leadership of the local government, along with the concerned officials, has illegally allotted plots to the relatives. Sources prior to the development revealed that the local government former leadership also replaced Project Director Orangi, who was creating hindrance.
Sources further claimed that Chairman Land Committee and Deputy Mayor also received plots and vehicles as a bribe in this regard.
Relevant sources informed that the former Mayor Karachi asked the authorities to allot 3,200 yards of land in Orangi to his cousin Kanwar Hassan Masood, where 35 shops were planned to be built.
In Orangi Sector 10, 3,000 yards of land were also ordered to be allotted to a relative of the former mayor. A member of the committee, constituted by Chairman Land and Katchi Abadi Authority, allotted 20 plots to politicians. Sources further informed that the females’ officials of the land committee also received plots in Gulshan-e-Zia.
