The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has finalized several sites in the city for the construction of low-cost housing schemes.
The KDA says it will begin the process in a phased manner – going to launch the first project in Surjani Town. This will be followed by progress in Korangi and the Federal B Area.
Director General (DG) Karachi Development Authority Syed Saif-ur-Rehman said that comprehensive planning is needed for the implementation of housing projects. Appreciating the track record of the Karachi Development Authority for providing quality housing schemes in Karachi, he said that a proper and comprehensive working plan is essential for the launch of any residential project in the city.
The DG Karachi Development Authority also chaired a meeting with the Executive Board of the Public Housing Societies Authority. During the meeting, the concerned officials finalized the following points.
These schemes will specially accommodate the middle and lower middle class, the new schemes will include only residential flats, offices and shops.
Surjani Town was the first choice for a low-cost residential project, KDA to launch similar project in Korangi and Federal B Area during next phase, Authority to ensure transparency in computerized belts for flats, offices and shops.
DG Karachi Development Authority SaifurRahman further directed the KDA Marketing Director to prepare a feasibility report for all three projects, and present it to the Executive Board for final approval of the governing body.
