For this project, the developer acquired Satellite Town several years ago and converted it into Citi Housing. Ever since then, the society has increased several times in size. With more area becoming part of the project and launched in the form of extensions of the existing blocks, property buyers in Jhelum have a decent inventory to choose from.
Project details
The society is located on Main GT Road and lies just 7 kilometres outside of Jhelum. It also has an entrance from the Dina-to-Malot Bypass. Citi Housing is one of the largest planned housing societies of the city and is still expanding, according to Abdul Qayyum of Islamabad City Builders. At the moment, it comprises a total of 10 blocks; Blocks A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, and K. Among these blocks, Block C exclusively features commercial plots, said Qayyum. The remaining blocks offer residential plots that come in different sizes, i.e. 5-marla, 7-marla, 10-marla, 1-kanal, and 2-kanal, he added.
Development status
In terms of infrastructure, the society is 100% developed, with road network, sewerage work, and electrification completed, Qayyum told us. The developer has granted property possession throughout the society. The developer has added some unique features in the project in the form of a huge theme park that features a zoo and a joy land, said Umer Mushtaq of Century 21. In addition, a cinema is currently under construction, which the developer is looking to inaugurate earlier next year, he added.
Current status
Since the last three months, investment activity and demand for property in Citi Housing has dropped by a huge margin, according to Mushtaq. This has brought along a drop of 10 – 15% in overall rates. He believes that the concept of living in walled and gated communities that offer a private and secure lifestyle to the people is somewhat new and it will take some time before the society will gain the acceptance and demand it deserves among home seekers, he believes.
