Hyderabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fawad Ghaffar Somroo directed the concerned officials of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to immediately conduct a survey to highlight the number of dilapidated buildings in the city and share a report, a news source reported.
Somroo gave the directives, while presiding over a meeting held with SBCA officials to discuss the status of old and depreciating structures in the city. He directed the officials to begin issuing notices to the residents/owners of these buildings before a calamity occurs.
He further ordered the officials to share their set of rules on how to deal with such buildings with the DC office to form a comprehensive strategy on future dealings. The SBCA official gave the DC a detailed briefing on the status of existing dilapidated buildings in Hyderabad.
Moreover, the findings of the survey will help the district government decide on whether or not these structures can be repaired, and will also help the authorities identify the structures that must be demolished to avoid any unfortunate incident.
