KARACHI: Corruption of Rs 100 billion has been revealed in Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA). In 18 years, illegal constructions have increased exponentially due to corruption in the institution.
According to details, corruption of Rs 100 billion has been exposed in Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA). Sindh Local Government Board has prepared a 59-page report.
The report said that 128 officers, including three former directors general, were involved in corruption and Rs 27 billion was embezzled in land transfer fees. The report recommended dismissal of four officers involved in corruption.
The report recommends strict action against the direct involvement of 775 officers.
The report said that in the last 18 years, illegal constructions have increased exponentially due to corruption in the institution. Areas were given on contract for illegal constructions. From the lowest level to the Director General were involved in wrongdoings.
According to the report, as a result of the breakdown of the institution, more than 97,000 illegal constructions still exist. In the last 3 years, more than 3200 illegal constructions have been done.
