Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed shared details on the ongoing National Highway Authority (NHA) projects included under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) Western route. The minister was addressing a press conference on CPEC updates.
He said that the developmental work on CPEC has expanded and new projects have been launched. One of the approved projects is DI Khan-Zhob Road, which was an important demand of the smaller provinces. He also announced that tenders for the Hyderabad and Sukkur Motorways will be floated this year and areas located on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road will be connected with different motorways.
Saeed also announced that under the various projects, roads extending to nearly 1,800 kilometres will be constructed in the country – without any cost to the national exchequer. He noted that lower amount of money is being used for the construction and development of roads because a large number of roads are being development under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
