Karachi: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail asked the Cable Operators Association to expedite the process of moving TV, internet, and other utility service, cables – currently stretched on Karachi (K)-Electric poles – underground.
The governor gave these directives while holding a meeting at the Governor House with a delegation of the Cable Operators Association that was led by its Chairman Khalid Arain. Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar was also present during the session.
The delegation took the opportunity to share various concerns, and talk in detail about the agreement signed with the K-Electrics on shifting the cables underground. In this regard, Governor Ismail stated that everyone should prefer protecting the interests of Karachiites and providing them with the maximum facilities. He further said that with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation expressing a willingness to issue an NOC for the said project, the cable operators must now ensure completing the venture on a priority basis.
The delegation briefed the governor that they had started to move the cables underground in the Defence Housing Authority — with 30 kilometres of cables having already been moved underground in the last 30 days. In addition, the work to do the same in the city’s red zone is expected to be initiated soon.
