Islamabad: Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has urged all the concerned authorities to take all possible steps to ensure fast-track completion of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) Phase-III.
The minister gave instructions in this regard while chairing a KCR project review meeting. Minister Umar directed Pakistan Railways (PR) to formulate a public-private partnership for KCR Phase-III. The meeting decided that legalities will soon be completed to initiate the development work on KCR Phase-III within the current financial year (FY) 2020-21.
To this effect, the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) is asked to offer the necessary cooperation and assistance to the Railway Ministry.
Moreover, the meeting was informed that the KCR construction will be completed within three years, by the middle of 2023. It was also revealed that the Ministry of Railways has kept Sindh government in constant loop and development work on underpasses at several locations is expected to start soon.
