KARACHI: Asia’s largest cattle market in the largest city of the country has been declared closed for visiting/shopping after 7 pm.
The management of Karachi Super Highway Cattle Market has decided to abide by the government’s announcement and announced to stop shopping in the cattle market from 7 pm today.
A spokesman for the cattle market said, “In the light of government announcements, the gates of the market will be closed to the public from 7 pm. Traders will be bound to buy and sell within the stipulated time.”
The spokesman said that citizens and media representatives would also not be allowed to enter the market after 7 pm and any buyers or people present inside the cattle market would be evicted.
A spokesman for the cattle market said government decisions and SOPs would be strictly enforced, and urged citizens and businesses to co-operate.
It may be recalled that in the light of the recommendations received from the National Control and Operation Center and the Health Department, the government had announced to close the cattle market after 7 pm.
